Ohio May 6, 2025 Primary: Key Issues and Voting Information

Ohioans head to the polls on Tuesday, May 6, to vote on key issues and local races. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you’re in line by 7:30 p.m., you can vote.
Issue 2: $2.5B Infrastructure Bond
Issue 2 proposes a $2.5 billion bond to fund public infrastructure projects—roads, bridges, sewers, and water systems—over 10 years. It continues a program first approved in 1987. If passed, annual funding would increase from $200 million to $250 million. This measure does not raise taxes.
School Levies and Bonds
Many districts are seeking approval for school levies and bonds. For example, Groveport Madison Schools propose a bond to build three new middle schools and expand a high school. These measures often reappear on ballots due to funding challenges and the impact of House Bill 920, which limits revenue growth.
Police and Fire Levies
Several townships, including Blendon, Franklin, and Washington, have police and fire levies on the ballot. These levies fund essential services and are critical for community safety.
Local Races to Watch
In Cincinnati, Mayor Aftab Pureval faces two challengers: Pastor Cory Bowman and military veteran Brian Frank. The top two vote-getters will advance to the November election.
Voter ID Requirements
To vote in person, bring a valid photo ID: Ohio driver’s license, state ID, U.S. passport, military ID, or Ohio National Guard ID. Other forms of ID are no longer accepted.
Find Your Polling Place
Not sure where to vote? Use the Ohio Secretary of State’s polling place locator: VoteOhio.gov.

Election Results
Polls close at 7:30 p.m. Initial results are expected shortly after. Final tallies may take longer in some counties.
