While Myles Garrett made news this week by requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns, Travis Kelce is getting ready to play in his fourth Super Bowl.
Still, Kelce, a Cleveland Heights High School graduate, made time to comment on Garrett’s decision to want out of Cleveland.
During one of many interviews leading up to this weekend’s Super Bowl, Kelce was asked for his thoughts on the situation.
“It’s tough. Obviously, I think every team in the National Football League would be accepting of a guy like Myles Garrett. Just a pros pro, a standup guy, he’s in the communities. I told him I appreciated him for everything he’s done for the Cleveland community before he mentioned that he wanted to get out of there. I just got so much love for him, man,” Kelce said Wednesday.
Kelce graduated from Cleveland Heights in 2008, then from the University Of Cincinnati in 2012.
“I think that’s a die-hard sports town that’s just, it’s fiending for an opportunity to go crazy for football,” he said.
Garrett is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. However, since joining the Browns in 2014, he’s only made the playoffs twice.
The Browns, who went 3-14 this season, still contend they have no plans to move on from Garrett.
It’s worth noting that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and New York Jets defensive end Haason Reddick each requested trades last season – but ended up staying with their respective teams. But their issues were related to their salary. Garrett’s issue is apparently related to having a chance to win a Super Bowl.
Do you think The Browns and Garrett will reach an agreement that will keep the DPOY in Cleveland?
