Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has declined to name quarterback Jameis Winston the starter ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This allows the possibility for backup Dorian Thompson-Robinson to start his first game of the season.
The Browns lost yesterday to the Kansas City Chiefs, 21-7. Winston was pulled for Thompson-Robinson after he threw his third pick of the game. The Browns had a total of 6 turnovers for the game.
Winston, despite his inspirational viral pre-game videos, is now 2-5 as the starting QB in Cleveland.
After the game, Stefanski was non-commital to Winston as the starting quarterback moving forward.
In addition to QB woes, Browns running back Nick Chubb suffered a foot injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a foot injury as well, and the Chiefs consider him to be week-to-week moving forward.
Up next: The Browns will travel to Cincinnati to play the rising Bengals on Sunday afternoon.
