The attention to women’s sports has sharply increased over the last few years, and all that excitement could be a good thing for Cleveland.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, along with Rock Entertainment Group and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, have placed their bid to bring a WNBA franchise back to Northeast Ohio.

The news comes on the heels of Cleveland playing host to the Women’s NCAA Final Four a season ago. The event was a huge success, and fans flocked from all over to come watch the tournament.

From FOX 8:

President and CEO of Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Destination Cleveland David Gilbert also released a statement saying, “We’re excited about Rock Entertainment Group’s quest to bring a WNBA team to The Land. This is another example of their commitment to the city’s future. They are an incredible community partner and supporter.”
