The NFL is officially reviewing the latest sexual assault and sexual misconduct lawsuit filed against Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.

On Monday, ESPN reported that Watson is facing a new civil lawsuit pertaining to inappropriate sexual behavior that allegedly took place in 2020. Watson, who the Browns traded for in March 2022, has already settled 23 of 24 sexual assault and misconduct lawsuits filed against him.

The new suit alleges several disturbing actions by Watson. “Jane Doe” cites that when she went to the bathroom in her home, she returned to her living room to find Watson naked and lying face down. He then allegedly demanded a massage on “his buttocks”. She says she tried to appease him by simply rubbing his back.

The suit goes on to say that, among other acts, Watson eventually penetrated Jane Doe without consent for “several minutes”. He then ultimately allegedly stormed out of her apartment.

The Browns gave up three first-round draft picks to the Houston Texans in the trade. Cleveland also gifted Watson an unprecedented $230 million contract that’s fully guaranteed.

The new case, filed by a woman whose name hasn’t been released, is seeking $1 million in damages. The event allegedly occurred during the 2020 NFL season.

From ESPN:

“At this time, the league is not placing Watson on the commissioner’s exempt list, effectively paid leave, since there have been no formal charges and the NFL’s review has just begun,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said.

Through his three-year tenure with the Browns, Watson has played in just 13 of a possible 36 games. 11 of those missed games were due to being suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy. The other missed games were due to a variety of injuries.

As for Browns fans, many are beginning to wonder how Cleveland can get out of this deal with Watson. Due to the fully guaranteed nature of his contract, Watson will likely play in Cleveland at least through this year.
