CLEVELAND — The man accused of killing Cleveland officer David Fahey in a hit-and-run accident made his first court appearance Thursday morning.
At the brief hearing, bond was set at $500,000 for 44-year-old Israel Alvarez who is being held on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and felony hit-skip.
Alvarez covered his face for most of the court proceeding in which it was revealed he has five children that he supports — including a 10-day-old baby. The other children are ages 3, 16, 18 and 22.
It was also discussed that he has been working for five years doing construction with the local 310 labor union before previous non-related offenses were listed.
